Identification
Various herbicides are effective on Bahia grass including those that contain metsulfuron-methyl and imazapic. However, the use of chemical controls comes with drawbacks, because they may also kill off other beneficial grasses.
Function
When using metsulfuron-methyl on Bahia grass, apply after full green-up but before seed head formation for best results. Metsulfuron-methyl will kill 90 percent of the Bahia grass and is less likely to harm beneficial grasses than imazapic.
Warning
When working with any weedkiller, wear protective gloves and do not inhale or allow the chemicals to get on your skin. Be sure to read the manufacturer's label for proper use and safety precautions.
