If you have a termite infestation, you can make your own all natural termite spray to combat the problem at home. You can also call in a professional termite exterminator but this will cost quite a bit more than a homemade remedy.
Termite control can be made with boric acid which is a powder derived from borates. Borates occur naturally in soil, rock, and seawater. This is a natural alternative to commercial insecticides.
Here's how to make termite spray at home:
Things You'll Need
Boric acid with propylene glycol
Paint brush or paint sprayer
Purchase boric acid that contains propylene glycol. Boric acid is normally found in powder form but the propylene glycol liquefies the borate so you can use it as a termite spray. Do not buy a solution that contains sugar. You can purchase this solution over the Internet or at your local hardware store.
If you have a large termite infestation you can use a paint sprayer to cover more area. Fill the sprayer with the termite spray and apply to all areas of wood that you would like to treat. Since this liquid is odorless, you don't have to worry about the smell penetrating the wood.
If you have a smaller termite infestation, you can use a paintbrush instead of the spray. Apply this solution to all areas of your home that contain termites and also use it to kill other pests such as cockroaches, ants, silverfish, etc.
Tips & Warnings
If you have a major infestation problem, you may want to hire a professional termite exterminator to come in and remove the damaged wood as well as treat the problem on a larger scale.
You can also purchase chemical termite spray at the local hardware supply store. There are some other all natural termite control solutions if you would rather not use harsh chemicals around your home.
