Ants and scorpions are a nuisance in the home and garden. While most ant and scorpion encounters are not fatal, they are very painful. Some ants, such as carpenter ants, can cause damage to wood structures. Once these pests have invaded your home, it can be difficult to get rid of them without resorting to harsh chemicals. Fortunately, there are a few natural remedies that can rid your home of ants and scorpions.

Cinnamon
Coffee grounds
Crushed mint leaves
Cloves
Honey
Aspartame
Borax
Caulk
Getting Rid of Ants
Remove all food and crumbs from your kitchen counter. Do not allow dishes to soak in the sink overnight and fix any leaky faucets. Sugar and an ample water supply draw ants.
Follow an ant line back to its nest. Sprinkle a line of cinnamon, coffee grounds or crushed mint leaves in front of the nest. Ants will not cross this line. Alternatively, whole cloves stuffed into small cracks surround the nest also work well.
Mix 1 part honey with 1 part borax and 1 part aspartame and leave on small pieces of paper. While aspartame is not toxic to ants, it is 200 times sweeter than sugar. Ants are drawn to the extremely sweet solution. The honey will bind the borax, which is a natural pest poison, to the ants. Ants will carry the honey mixture back to their nests and spread it to the rest of the ant colony. Keep this mixture away from pets and children. Children and pets are, like ants, drawn to very sweet solutions, but the borax can cause severe stomach upset, nausea and vomiting.
Getting Rid of Scorpions
Rid your home and garden of ants and other pests. Scorpions eat ants, spiders and other pests. Removing those pests will force a scorpion to leave your home or garden to find a food supply.
Remove mulch, tarps, pieces of plywood and yard garbage that could provide a nest for scorpions from your lawn. Scorpions hide in cool, shady places.
Seal all cracks leading into your home with caulk. Place a filter or screen over your dryer vent. Scorpions use small cracks and ill-fitting doors and windows to access your home.
Sprinkle borax in areas where scorpions have been noticed in your yard. Borax is a natural pest poison.
Tips & Warnings
Keep borax out of reach of children and pets. Exposure is not usually fatal, but it can cause extreme illness, especially in small children and the elderly.
