Chrysanthemum Oil
Chrysanthemum oil contains low levels of a natural compound called pyrethrum. It is a natural insecticide and works against a wide variety of insects, including wasps. Chrysanthemum oil does not contain as much pyrethrum as traditional insecticides that use it.
Use
Chrysanthemum oil is not strong enough to kill wasps on its own, but it can give natural wasp killers a boost. Pour a pint of boiling water over half a cup of dried hot peppers. Let the mixture cool then pour it into a spray bottle. Add two tsp. of liquid dish detergent and five drops of chrysanthemum oil. Shake the mixture before use. It will kill wasps on contact.
Considerations
In order to make the pyrethrum in chrysanthemum oil strong enough to kill effectively without combining it with other insect killers, it needs to be mixed with synergists like piperonyl butoxide. However, adding this to a mixture will make it no longer organic or natural.
