Description
Newly planted flowers are those that have been planted for less than 21 days. During this three-week period, flowers recuperate from stress and resume their normal growth rate after transfer.
Time Frame
When watering newly planted flowers, consider changes in the weather, as this affects the frequency of watering. Dry weather may require that plants be watered up to three or more times per week, while wet weather reduces the need to as little as once a week.
Amount
When watering newly planted flowers, the rule of thumb is to keep the top 2 inches of soil moist. An inch of water a week is sufficient for this. Break this down into two to three waterings to guard against overwatering and to increase the success rate of the garden.
