Vegetation
Sprays of permethrin, carbaryl or acephate work well on lawns and gardens, according to the the University of Minnesota Extension. Soak the area thoroughly for best results.
Buildings
Spray the foundation and perimeter of the home to keep ants from entering from outside nests. Possible sprays for this purpose include permethrin, bifenthrin and carbaryl.
Inside
Sprays may not work as well as bait or dusts inside the home, according to the Ohio State University Extension website. Try permethrin, cypermethrin or tralomethrin spray indoors. Do not spray counters, eating areas and surfaces to which children and animals have access.
Tips
