Wasp Killer Home Remedy

Wasps can be an annoying and aggressive yard pest that can give a painful sting. These insects can cause an allergic reaction among some people. While there are several retail products that kill wasps effectively, these items can contain hazardous chemicals, and are often cost more than most are willing to pay. Instead, make a homemade wasp killer that will work effectively without breaking the budget.

To make a homemade wasp trap, first take an empty two-liter bottle, and cut off the top third of the bottle. Flip the top upside down and place into the bottom half of the bottle, creating a funnel appearance (the mouth of the bottle should now point downward). Use a knife to poke a hole in each side of the bottle, and weave a piece of string through for hanging. In the bottle, add one to two inches of fruit juice and two large squirts of liquid dish soap. Hang from a tree away from where people commonly pass through, and wasps will be attracted to this sweet smelling solution. They will enter the bottle through the mouth, and become trapped inside, where the dish detergent will grease the wings and prevent the wasp from escaping. The wasps will die inside the bottle, and when the bottle accumulates a number of dead wasps, simply remove from the tree, tie closed in a plastic bag, and throw in the trash. Tying the bag closed is important, as when wasps smell dead wasps, they can many times become aggressive and want to attack. Create a new trap, re-hang, and repeat as often as necessary until wasps are no longer a problem.

Peppermint is a natural repellent and killer of several insects and lawn pests, including wasps. In a spray bottle, mix two cups of water and 30 drops of peppermint essential oil (available at any nutritional supplement store). Spray directly onto wasp nests early in the morning or at night to prevent getting stung. Wasps trapped inside will die, and wasps coming back to the nest will be repelled, and move elsewhere.

Dish detergent works as a natural wasp killer. In a spray bottle, mix a solution of two cups water and two large squirts of liquid dish detergent. Spray directly onto wasp nests early in the morning or at night, and be sure not to shine a flashlight at the trap during night. Wasps can flock to the light and attack.
