Electrical and Starter
The Husqvarna 41 chain saw features an automatic rewind starter. Once the engine is running, a Phelon Electronic magneto drives the 0.30 mm gapped coil. The coil sends power to either a Champion RCJ7Y spark plug or a Bosch WSR6F plug, either of which has a 0.5 mm spark plug gap. The 41's ignition timing is fixed.
Fuel and Oil
Regular unleaded gasoline is adequate for the Husqvarna 41. However, since it has a two-stroke engine, it requires that the gasoline be mixed with lubricating oil. Husqvarna recommends the use of their chain saw mixing oil and that it be mixed with the gasoline in a proportion of 50 parts fuel to one part oil. The saw's fuel tank can hold up to 13.5 ounces of this mixture at any given time.
Motor
A one cylinder gasoline engine with 40 cubic cm displacement powers the Husqvarna 41. It has a cylinder bore of 40 mm and a piston stroke of 32 mm. The engine can produce 2.5 horsepower with a maximum speed of 13,000 revolutions per minute, or 9,000 rpm when it is being used to cut. The engine also has a Walbro WT-202 or WT-239, or ZAMA C1Q-W5 or W6 carburetor which, in conjunction with the cellulose fiber air filter, provides the fuel and air mixture for ignition.
Bar and Chain
The model 41 chain saw works with guide bars between 13 and 18 inches. Husqvarna requires the use of an Oregon 91SG or 33SL type chain, with either a 0.325 or 0.375-inch low-profile chain pitch.
