Dimension Specialty Herbicides are a group of three different formulations: Dimension 2 EW, Dimension EC and Dimension Ultra 40 WP. The product line includes pre-emergent chemicals that prevent weeds and post-emergent pesticides to kill them. Dimension weed killers are for application in turf and ornamental grasses invaded by annual bluegrass, crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtail and spurge.
Eye Problems
The range of eye problems Dimension 2 EW may cause ranges from irritation to severe injury to your cornea, the transparent layer over the eyes. Dimension Ultra 40 WP is also harmful to your eye health, but its chemical composition is listed in the Material Safety Data Sheet as causing only moderate eye irritation to mild corneal injury.
Respiratory Issues
If you receive high exposure to Dimension EC Herbicide, your respiratory organs may become irritated. Likewise, if you inhale the dust of Dimension Ultra 40 WP, your lungs, nose and throat might also develop irritation.
Skin Conditions
Peeling is one of the possible side effects if your skin comes in contact with Dimension 2 EW; redness is another. Accidental contact with Dimension EC Herbicide might also cause your skin to develop an allergic reaction. In addition, Dimension Ultra 40 WP may create mild skin irritation and redness where the chemical has come in contact with the skin.
Cancer and Other Concerns
The toxicological information on Dimension Ultra 40 WP states that it contains crystalline silica, a quartz known to cause cancer in people and laboratory animals. Lab animals exposed to dithiopyr, another chemical in this herbicide, also showed signs of liver, kidney, gallbladder, adrenal gland, blood and thyroid problems. Napththalene is listed as a minor component in Dimension EC Herbicide and as a substance that causes cancer. This pesticide also has the potential to create birth defects in fetuses and lead to liver, kidney, gallbladder, adrenal gland, thyroid and blood disorders. Dimension 2 EW Herbicide might also negatively affect the same organs and blood. In addition, it might interfere with your nervous system and spleen function. In addition, the fetus of an expecting mother who’s exposed to this weed killer might also develop birth defects. All three weed killers are highly toxic to aquatic life.
