The X300 is John Deere's basic model within a line of garden and lawn tractors. John Deere distributes the tractor in the United States and Canada. The X300 is configured with the engine in the front and the driver seated above the rear axle. The mower deck is between the front and rear wheels. John Deere designed the X300 to provide the power necessary to mow lawns or remove snow on large properties.
Engine
Powered by a 28.8-cubic-inch Kawasaki 4-cycle engine, the X300 develops up to 17 horsepower. The two-cylinder engine is in a V-twin configuration and utilizes cast iron cylinder liners and overhead valves. The engine also includes an oil filter to improve engine oil life. A single 12-volt battery powers the electric start. The X300's K46 automatic transmission provides speeds of up to 5.5 mph forward and 4 mph in reverse. Gas tank capacity is 3.3 gallons.
Physical Dimensions
The John Deere X300 has a wheelbase of 49.4 inches and an overall length of 72 inches. The tractor width is 38 inches, which expands to 44 inches with a mower deck if the grass deflector is folded for storage. Including the mower assembly, the tractor is 52 inches wide when the mower is in use. The tractor, without operator, stands 43 inches high and weighs 575 pounds with a full tank of fuel and the mower deck in place.
Attachments
To provide the homeowner with additional capabilities, John Deere manufacturers a number of attachments for the X300. Optional 42-inch standard or mulching decks are available. Also available is a front thatcher in 38, 46 or 54-inch widths. Homeowners in northern climates can attach the 44-inch snow blower and use the 40-inch shovel or 44-inch blade to move snow or other materials around the yard.
