Blue Blossom
The blue blossom tree, Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, is native to California. It lives up to its name with clustered blue flowers. Depending on the variety, blossoms may be almost white, light blue or dark blue. Blue blossom trees may grow up to 18 feet tall. They are fast-growing and drought tolerant, according to California Flora Nursery.
Jacaranda
Jacaranda mimosifolia is a large, tropical tree with vivid, lavender-blue flowers. The flowers form in drooping, bell-shaped clusters and last through spring and summer. The tree can grow across the United States. Jacaranda trees can grow 25 to 40 feet tall.
Wild Lilac Hybrids
Several hybrids of the wild lilac, ceanothus, produce blue flowers. "Frosty Blue" is an evergreen growing 8 feet tall and wide. In the spring, it produces clusters of mid-blue flowers. "Blue Jeans" has darker flowers and "Dark Star" is a dark, almost purple, blue. Both grow up to 6 feet tall.
