Founded in 1837, John Deere is a worldwide corporation that employs more than 50,000 individuals. The company manufactures equipment in agriculture and turf, forestry and construction. John Deere began manufacturing the GT235 in 1999. While garden tractors are primary used for cutting grass, they have stronger frames and are more sturdily built than typical riding mowers. According to the Tractor House website, the 2005 John Deere GT235 can be purchased for about $3,500, depending on the quality and condition.
Performance
The John Deere 235 Garden Tractor features a V-twin, 18 horsepower Kawasaki engine with an overhead valve and cast-iron cylinder liner. Operators use a two-pedal transmission to control the machine. To start the engine in colder weather, the tractor has a separate throttle and choke control. The tractor also has a 500 cold-crank amp battery.
Specs
While the front tires are 16 inches, the rear tires are 24 inches -- a feature that allows operators to maneuver through rough terrain. The John Deere tractor also has a cruise control option and almost a 3-gallon fuel tank.
Features
A standard 48-inch mowing deck is included on the John Deere 235 Garden Tractor. The mower has 13 different height positions, with a cutting height range from 1 to 4 inches. To keep track of maintenance intervals, the tractor has a standard hour meter as well. Headlights allow individuals to operate the vehicle during dusk hours. The contoured seat design has an adjustable polyfoam spring suspension and tilts forward to protect it from various elements. The molded hood is durable, hides scratches and doesn't rust or dent.
Attachments
Over 15 attachments are available for the John Deere 235 Garden Tractor. Optional attachments include a mulching system, front thatcher, front blade, rotary tiller, front bumper and sleeve hitch. John Deere also offers optional utility carts to haul material, baggers to carry more grass and sprayer to disperse fertilizer and pesticides.
