As part of the company's Z series of mowers, the ZD28 Zero-Turn lawn mower weighed in at roughly 1,680 pounds. Kubota manufactured the ZD28 between 2003 and 2006. The company has since replaced the ZD28 with the Z200 and Z300 series of zero-turn mowers, also designed for residential and commercial use.
Mower Dimensions
The Kubota ZD28 Zero-Turn lawn mower was a large, heavy-duty machine that measures 7 feet 6 inches long and 6 feet 1 inch wide. At its tallest point -- the folding support bar that rests behind the driver's seat -- the machine was 5 feet high. The ZD28 rests on 24-by-12-inch tires.
ZD28 Specifications
A three-cylinder, 28-horsepower diesel engine with water cooling powered the two-wheel drive Kubota ZD28 Zero-Turn lawn mower. Part of the ZD28's weight was due to the 72-inch cutting deck featured on late models. Early models of the ZD28 from 2003 and 2004 had a 60-inch cutting deck, which slightly reduced the machine's weight. The ZD28 featured a suspension seat and front oscillating axle with a built-in jack. Like all Kubota machines, the ZD28 sported the company's characteristic orange and black finish.
Current Availability
Though Kubota no longer manufactures the ZD28, online and brick-and-mortar agricultural equipment retailers may sell this machine used. Shipping costs can be considerable, given the machine's weight. When shopping for a used ZD28, take shipping into consideration. Though customers won't come by a new ZD28, new parts are available from online agricultural equipment suppliers.
