How to Get Rid of Spiders in Cars

The presence of spiders is beneficial in nature as they eat pesky insects such as mosquitoes and flies. But having a spider infestation inside your car can be downright disturbing. Spiders nest in locations conducive to building a nest. Areas that are dirty, contain organic materials or have piles of things where eggs can be laid are prime locations for spiders to inhabit. Pesticides alone are not enough to get rid of spiders. Cleanliness and the removal of things that attracted spiders in the first place are equally important.

Vacuum

All-purpose cleaning spray

Paper towels

Commercial insecticide spray

Spray bottle

3 ounces white vinegar

1 ounce vanilla extract

Cotton balls

Clean out the inside of the car and trunk to get rid of spider webs and materials that attract spiders. Vacuum the entire interior, including beneath the seats and inside the trunk and any other compartments to remove dirt and debris. Spray surfaces with all-purpose cleaner and wipe down to remove food and drink residue.

Spray the hard-surfaced areas of the interior of the car with a commercial pesticide. Close the doors and windows and allow the pesticide to work for 20 to 30 minutes. Open the windows to air out the car so it doesn't smell of pesticide.

Pour 3 ounces of white vinegar into a spray bottle. Add 1 ounce of vanilla extract to the vinegar. Close the bottle and shake it to mix the two ingredients together.

Spritz the vinegar and vanilla spray in the car. Soak a few cotton balls with the solution and place them in the trunk, glove compartment and inside the car for a longer lasting spider repellent.

Maintain a clean car to prevent spiders from returning.

Replenish the vinegar and vanilla scented cotton balls every few days to continue repelling spiders with the scent.
