Cub Cadet riding lawn tractors come in varying sizes of frames, engines and decks, but they all operate the blades with a belt. The belt runs from the pulley under the crankshaft of the engine to the pulleys located on the top of the mower deck. Over time the wear and stretching of the belt will cause it to break. Replacing the belt yourself will save you the mechanic's fee,
Things You'll Need
Wrench set
Cub Cadet belt
Scrap blocks of wood
Park the riding mower on a level spot and shut it off.
Slide blocks of wood under the edges of the deck.
Lower the deck lever to the lowest setting to put slack in the belt.
Lay beside the engine. Fit the proper sized wrench on the three pins that are located around the pulley bolted to the base of the engine's crankshaft. Unscrew the three belt keeper pins.
Slip the old belt off of the pulley. Slide the new belt around the pulley. Tighten the three belt keeper pins back in tightly with the wrench.
Unscrew the deck pulley cover on the top of the deck with the proper sized wrench.
Slide the old belt off. Slide the new belt around the pulley. Tighten the deck pulley cover back over the deck pulley with the new belt in place.
Raise the deck height lever to the maximum height. Remove the pieces of wood from under the edges of the deck.
