The K-241 is an engine manufactured by Kohler that is used on both riding lawn mowers and emergency back-up generators. The small gas engine is a single-cycle four-cylinder engine that is also air-cooled. The timing refers to the speed at which the engine idles when it is running. After extended use, the timing may need to be adjusted if the engine idles too slow or too fast.
Things You'll Need
Screwdriver
Use a screwdriver to turn both the low and main fuel adjusting screws -- also referred to as needles -- to the right, until they cannot turn any more.
Turn both needles two full turns to the left, or counterclockwise.
Start the Kohler's engine and allow it to run on medium throttle for 10 minutes for warm-up.
Place the throttle into the "fast" or "high" position and then turn the main adjustment needle clockwise until the idle slows some.
Set the throttle back to the "low" setting, then insert the screwdriver into the low idle adjustment screw or needle. Turn the screw counterclockwise until the idle is steady and even.
