There are not many reasons why a homeowner might want to get rid of the frogs on their property. One of the main reasons is if you have an abundance of the type of frogs that makes a lot of noise in the form of chirping. In this case, there are some things you can do to deter the frogs from coming to your property. However, in most areas it is illegal to kill or harm local wildlife, including amphibians like frogs.
Eliminate pools of water on your property. Frogs are likely to inhabit areas that have water, and they can survive in small areas, such as wells, springs and marshy areas of your lawn. Getting rid of this water source can deter frog populations.
Add a fence around your swimming pool or other larger body of water on your property. A fence that does not have crevices frogs can get through, such as a stone fence, can deter the frogs and eventually get rid of them altogether.
Add fish to the body of water on your property, such as a pond, that are a natural predator of the type of frogs you're dealing with. Be sure to research carefully and consult with a wildlife professional to ensure you don't upset any natural ecosystems in the process.
Contact your local government wildlife department if the frogs refuse to leave. The wildlife department may be able to assist you in getting rid of them naturally without breaking the law.
Tips & Warnings
Do not attempt to catch and release the frogs on your property. If the environment is not just right where they are released, the frogs are likely to die. Deterring the frogs is the only natural way to get rid of them.
