The zero-turn Cub Cadet RZT50 mower makes tighter turns for better maneuvering. Sometimes, however, the mower deck becomes out of level when accidentally running over a stump or turning in an uneven part of the yard. When the deck is out of level, the blades cut the grass unevenly. Leveling the mowing deck on a Cub Cadet RZT50 is a bit quicker than with most mowers. The RZT50 has adjustments for one side of the deck and the front of the deck instead of requiring adjustments on all four sides.

Leveling Side-To-Side
Park the Cub Cadet RZT50 on a level surface. Raise the mower deck to its highest position. Turn off the mower and pull the key out of the ignition.
Turn the mower blades by hand so they point to the side of the mower. Measure the outside tip of the left blade to the ground with a tape measure. Go to the other side of the mower and measure the opposite blade tip to the ground with the tape measure. The measurement should be equal on both sides. Compare the measurements to determine whether you need to raise or lower the left side.
Go to the left side of the RZT50 and find the hex screw and adjustment gear. The gear and screw are on the frame above the deck. Loosen the hex screw two full turns with a socket wrench.
Turn the adjustment gear, behind the hex screw, clockwise with a wrench to raise the left side of the deck. Turn the gear counterclockwise if the left side requires lowering.
Measure the distance between the blade tips and the ground on both sides of the deck. Continue making adjustments until both sides are at an equal distance. Tighten the hex screw once adjustment is complete.
Leveling Front to Back
Rotate both blades by hand so they are pointing front to back. Measure the front tip of a blade to the ground with the tape measure. Measure the rear tip of the same blade to the ground as well. Compare the two measurements. The front of the deck should be lower than the rear by 1/8 to 1/4 inch.
Find the two adjustment hex nuts on the front of the mower deck hanger on both sides of the mower. There are two nuts on top of each other at each bracket.
Turn the top nut on both sides counterclockwise two full turns with a socket wrench. Rotate the inner nuts on both sides clockwise with a wrench to raise the front of the deck. Turn the inner nuts the same number of turns on both sides. Turn the inner nuts counterclockwise to lower the front of the deck.
Measure the front and rear blade tip distances to the ground again. Continue making adjustments as necessary. Tighten the outer nuts once adjustments are complete.
Tips & Warnings
Wear leather work gloves when turning the blades by hand to avoid accidental cuts.
