The drive belt on a Swisher mower, such as the Swisher trail mower, powers the blades located under the mower deck. The trail mower is a detachable unit that you connect to a tractor and run it off a drive shaft connected to the tractor’s motor output shaft. Replacing a worn-out drive belt will take a short amount of time, but it is important to inspect and replace the belt, if necessary, before every cutting season to ensure the mower runs properly

Socket set
Remove both bolts from the front of the engine mount and then remove both bolts from the back of the engine mount with a socket and ratchet. Lift the motor and motor mount off the deck of the mower. The bottom of the mower has a pulley on it that connects to the primary belt drive. Slip the belt off the pulley so you can remove the motor.
Remove the primary belt off the pulley mounted on the top of the mower deck and place it off to the side.
Remove the belt guards with a socket and ratchet. Take note of their positioning. They must go back on facing the same direction. Pull the primary belt off the pulley
Push the tensioner pulley on the motor deck inward to loosen tension on the secondary drive belt and then pull the belt off the remaining pulleys. Take note of the belt routing so you can put the new belt on correctly.
Place the new belt onto the secondary pulleys. Once you have the belt routed, move the tensioner pulley and then place the belt over that pulley. The entire pulley system uses pin guards that stick up. Route the belt so all of the pin guards are on the outside of the belt.
Place the new primary drive belt onto the drive pulley and secure the belt guards in place.
Place the motor and motor mount on the mower deck. Place the belt around the pulley and then secure the motor mount to the deck with the four bolts.
