As its name implies, the Craftsman 32cc single line trimmer uses a single piece of line, which loops through the trimmer head twice to create two strands of string that extend from the cutter head. This method eliminates the use of a spool. Although you must change the string more often, eliminating the spool means you do not have to worry about line jams when trying to feed new string.
Things You'll Need
Craftsman trimmer string
Pull the old line out of the trimmer head.
Pull the guide plate off the trimmer head. Remove all of the old grass and dirt buildup from the trimmer head.
Snap the guide plate back onto the trimmer head. Align the arrow on the guide plate with the letter "A" on the cutter head if you are using Craftsman "red" or "black" trimmer line. Align the arrow with "B" if you are using any other color of Craftsman trimmer string.
Bend the trimmer string in half and place both ends of the string through the hole labeled "A" or "B," depending on the size string you are using.
Pull the strings out of the alignment tunnels until the bend in each string rests firmly against the hub of the trimmer head. You should have equal lengths of string coming from each side of the trimmer.
