The hour meter on a John Deere X304 allows the operator to monitor the amount of time taken to mow a particular area, as well as keeping track of a regular maintenance schedule. Whenever you disconnect an important piece of equipment and intend to use while it is disconnected, remember to keep a written log so not to miss on any vital service work. Disconnecting the hour meter will take five minutes to complete.
Things You'll Need
Jump wire
Park the lawn mower on a hard, level surface and set the parking brake. Turn the ignition key to the "off" position.
Open the hood of the lawn tractor and locate the wires going into the back of the hour meter that is situated on the right side of the dash. Disconnect the wire harness from the back of the hour meter.
Connect the one side of the jump wire into one of the open connectors in the wire harness and connect the other side of the jump wire into the remaining open connector.
