Ironite liquid fertilizer is designed for lawns, shrubs, trees, and flowers, and a single bottle will cover up to 5000 square feet of garden space. The fertilizer contains a nutritional analysis of 6-2-1 and is 1 percent iron. Ironite is specifically designed not to burn the foliage of delicate shrubs and can be applied both to the soil and to the leaves.
Things You'll Need
Garden hose
Screwdriver or hand spade
Water the soil under shrubs with a garden hose until it is damp to the same depth as the roots, or approximately 6 to 8 inches. Dig down into the soil with a screwdriver or hand spade to check the depth of the moisture saturation.
Turn the garden hose off at the faucet and shake a bottle of Ironite liquid fertilizer well. Insert the end of the hose into the yellow coupler at the top of the bottle. Turn the coupler clockwise until it will no longer turn.
Turn the water faucet back on, and turn the nozzle on the front of the Ironite bottle until it is in the "open" position.
Direct the spray toward the tops of the shrubs, and move it in a side-to-side motion until all the leaves are saturated. Walk around the shrub as you do this to cover the leaves on all sides.
Direct the spray toward the ground, and spray it in a side-to-side motion just until the ground is covered once.
Repeat the application every two to four weeks from spring through the fall, or up to 26 times per year.
Tips & Warnings
Liquid Ironite can stain concrete and other hard surfaces, so rinse them immediately if the product gets on them during application.
