How to Plant Succulents in Containers. Succulents are the perfect low maintenance plants. In addition to their unusual beauty, they come in wide varieties and stunning colors. They are also very easy to grow in containers. With some simple materials, planting them in a bowl or pot is easy... even for the novice gardener.

Succulents are the perfect low maintenance plants. In addition to their unusual beauty, they come in wide varieties and stunning colors. They are also very easy to grow in containers. With some simple materials, planting them in a bowl or pot is easy... even for the novice gardener.
Succulent(s)
Container for plant
Succulent and cactus potting soil
Gardening scoop or spoon
Small rocks
Gardening gloves (optional)
Choose the succulents and line them up on a work table. A wide variety of succulents can be found at a local nursery or gardening store.
Fill the bottom of the container about ? of the way with the small rocks. This acts as a base for the soil and provides drainage for the succulent.
Place soil on top of the rocks. Fill up about ? to ? of the way.
Gently remove the succulent from the packaging or plastic containers.
Create a small hole in the soil with your fingers and place the succulent in the hole. Repeat this step for each succulent.
Gently pack the soil around the base of the succulent. Repeat this step for each succulent you are planting.
Gently add more soil to the bowl to create an even top soil base.
Cover the soil with a top layer of rocks around the succulents.
Now you have a created a beautiful container filled with low maintenance succulents. Remember to water about once a week.
