The Echo SRM 210 trimmer and brush cutter is a power tool, which can cause serious injury to you or bystanders if not used properly. This trimmer operates with a gas-powered two-cycle engine, which requires a pre-mixed fuel of gasoline and two-cycle oil. Take all safety precautions and wear the required safety equipment whenever you use the Echo SRM 210 trimmer.
Things You'll Need
Approved fuel container
Regular unleaded gasoline
Two-cycle engine oil
Rag
Leather gloves
Safety glasses
Earplugs
Work boots
Open the cap on the approved fuel container and fill it halfway with the regular unleaded gasoline. Pour in the required amount of two-cycle oil. Close the fuel cap and shake the container to mix the fuel. Open the cap and fill the rest of the fuel into the fuel container. Use a mixture ratio of 50:1 gasoline to oil.
Open the fuel cap on the Echo SRM 210 and fill the tank with the mixed fuel. Screw the cap on tight. Wipe off any spilled fuel around the tank and engine with the rag. Set the Echo trimmer onto a flat piece of ground away from where you filled it with gas. Push the "Stop" button forward, away from the "Stop" position.
Move the choke lever on the engine into the cold start position, which will resemble this symbol "[/]." Pump the primer bulb beside the choke lever until the fuel flows into the return fuel line and fills the bulb at least ? full.
Place your hand around the throttle trigger and depress the trigger fully. Grab the starter rope handle in your right hand and pull it out firmly until the engine fires. Let go of the rope and move the choke lever into the "Run" position, which looks like [|]. Grab the starter handle and pull the rope again until the unit fires and runs. Let go of the throttle and let the engine idle for 5 minutes to warm up.
Hold the front handle with your left hand and the rear handle with your right. Place the rear handle about 6 inches from your body at waist level. Squeeze the throttle and hover the head over the first set of weeds. Trim the weeds working from top down, to prevent over-trimming.
Move the "Stop" button back into the "Stop" position when finished trimming. Follow all the cleaning and maintenance schedules as required in the operator's manual.
Tips & Warnings
Always wear the proper safety equipment during operation.
Never store the trimmer with gas leftover in the tank.
