Birds can prove to be pests in the garden, especially if your potted flowers catch their eye. Birds will often land on the side of the pot or in the soil itself and peck away at the roots and blossoms of flowers. If you are stuck in this situation and want to be able to keep the birds away, there are a few easy precautions you can take that will effectively protect your flowers from birds.
Things You'll Need
Aluminum foil
Chicken wire
Wire cutters
Duct tape
Toothpicks
Wrap aluminum foil around the entire rim of the pot. Aluminum foil is shiny and reflective and will likely scare the birds away with the glare.
Cut out a piece of chicken wire using a pair of wire cutters that can be bent around the flowers and duct taped to the side of the pot. The chicken wire will still allow the flower to flourish but will block the birds.
Insert multiple toothpicks throughout the soil in the pot. The toothpicks will discourage and prevent the birds from landing in the soil.
