John Deere wheels are tubeless so you can repair simple holes with a plug or patch. However, when the wheels sustain considerable damage and require replacements, you must first remove the damaged wheels. Always consider safety first when working with any heavy power equipment.
Things You'll Need
Lawn mower lift
Safety goggles
Snap-ring pliers
Turn off the mower's engine and remove its spark plug to eliminate any chance of the mower starting while you are working.
Lift and support the tractor on a mower lift to gain free access to the wheel.
Pull the plastic center cap from the wheel away from rim. It simply snaps on and off.
Put on safety goggles and remove the snap ring or e-clip from the wheel axle with snap-ring pliers.
Slide the tire assembly off the axle to remove it.
