Benjamin Franklin Gravely started the Gravely company in 1916. Gravely is a manufacturer of commercial and residential walk-behind and riding lawn mowers, including zero-turn mowers. The mowers are referred to as "zero turn" because they are able to make very tight pivots and require virtually zero turning radius.
Slide the throttle to the "slow" position and let the engine idle for 30 seconds before you turn it off -- if the mower backfires when it's shut off.
Move both of the steering control levers forward so they are completely extended if the mower won’t start or has low power. Also, try filing the tank with fuel, replacing the spark plug or replacing the air filter.
Check the tire pressure and even them out if necessary; drive the mower slower and place the throttle in the "fast" position if the mower cuts grass unevenly or does not discharge the cut grass well. Also, look underneath for caked-on grass and clean it off if necessary.
Remove the covering of the headlight and replace the bulb if the headlight does not work.
