Kohler manufactures a wide variety of small engines used in everything from lawn tractors and snow blowers to generators. The 25-horsepower V-twin engine features overhead valves and full pressure lubrication with full-flow filter. The governor measures and regulates the speed of an engine. If the engine is revving to high or to low a sensitivity adjustment fixes this problem. This procedure takes only a few moments.
Things You'll Need
Needle nose pliers
Engine Revving Low
Set the engine on a flat work bench.
Locate the governor spring to the right of the oil dipstick. The one side of the spring is connected to linkage with several adjustment holes and the other end is linked to the throttle.
Pull the spring out of the linkage hole with the needle nose pliers.
Move the spring upwards one hole towards the governor lever pivot point.
Start the engine. If the engine remains throttling to low, shut off the engine and adjust the spring upward one more hole.
Engine Revving High
Set the engine on a flat work bench.
Locate the governor spring to the right of the oil dipstick. The one side of the spring is connected to linkage with several adjustment holes and the other end is linked to the throttle.
Pull the spring out of the linkage with the needle nose pliers.
Move the spring downwards one hole away from the governor lever pivot point.
Start the engine. If the engine remains throttling to high, shut off the engine and adjust the spring downward one more hole.
