Servicing a Case 446 garden tractor includes checking its vital components and fluid levels. The primary concerns are the oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, tires and examining the gaskets. This should be done every six weeks if the tractor is used regularly.
Things You'll Need
Crescent wrench
Air filter
Waste oil pan
Oil
Oil filter
Fuel filter
Air pressure gauge
Remove the the air filter compartment cover. Remove and replace the filter.
Locate the oil plug. Depending on the serial number, the tractor may have a square spout like drain, or a hex-shaped one one that is on the left corner of the engine block. This particular model underwent a block switch as far as the oil plug was concerned.
Place the oil waste pan under the plug. Remove the plug. Allow all the oil to drain. Replace the plug. Remove and replace the oil filter. It will be located on the engine block.
Pour new oil in to the engine, one quart at a time. Use the specified oil for the tractor, according to the owner's manual. Check the oil level on the dipstick. Add oil in small amounts when topping up.
Locate the fuel line underneath the tractor. Attached to the line will be the fuel filter. Remove and replace the filter. It is attached on both ends.
Check the tires' air pressure. If they are low, fill them to the proper levels.
