Dish soap is a safe and natural way to kill flies. There are a couple of different approaches. You can use antibacterial dish soap with a spray bottle to kill the flies, or you can combine dish soap with apple cider vinegar to drown the pests in a trap. Regardless, you can safely use either dish soap combination near food, children and pets and without damaging most surfaces.
Things You'll Need
Antibacterial dish soap
Spray bottle
Water
Apple cider vinegar
Disposable cup
Spray
Squirt a small dab of antibacterial dish soap into a bottle sprayer. For a more powerful version, just add more dish soap.
Add two cups of warm water into the sprayer.
Shake the sprayer well to mix the soap with the water. You can spray the flies in the air or on any surface.
Dish Soap and Vingear Trap
Fill a 12-oz. disposable cup about an eighth of the way with apple cider vinegar.
Squirt three drops of dish soap into the cup. Swirl the cider and soap around the sides of the cup. The dish soap breaks the flies' adhesion to the surface so that the flies that go inside the cup drown in the mixture.
Position the cup where you want to capture flies. Keep your cup in an elevated place for maximum results.
