How to Kill Weeds Permanently. Anyone who's ever owned a piece of land knows that, eventually, there'll be weeds in the dirt. When the weeds come, there are two basic ways of dealing with them: get down on their level and yank them right out of your property, or resort to biological warfare and spray the little buggers with potent herbicides.

Things You'll Need
Weedkiller mixture
Sprayer
Small shovel
Pulling the Weeds
Identify the weeds you wish to pull. Because many weeds like growing next to beneficial plants, ensure that what you're pulling is a weed and not your grandmother's prize begonia.
Grasp the weed as close to the ground as possible.
Pull the weed straight up from the ground, removing as much of the weed's root as possible. If the stalk breaks, go for the tools.
Dig up the root ball or taproot of the weed with a shovel. Get the bulk of the roots out of the ground to ensure the weed will die.
Spraying the Weeds
Mix a batch of your preferred weedkiller, per label instructions.
Spray the weeds when they are dry. Wait at least 24 hours before spraying if has rained or otherwise precipitated.
Spray the weeds' leaves with the herbicide mix, per label instruction. Most herbicides are absorbed into the weed via leaves and stalks and not the roots.
Spray the weeds again after about 24 hours have passed. This should be sufficient to kill most intrusive weeds.
Tips & Warnings
Many weeds have small thorns or spines on their main stalks to protect them from predators. Wear gloves to prevent being stung or pricked when attempting to pull them.
