Chlorine is a chemical you place in pools to maintain sanitary conditions. Chlorine kills micro-organisms that can easily infest a pool causing a range of health issues such as ear infections, athlete's foot and gastroenteritis. Anyone who has ever put live plants by the side of the pool most likely knows what can happen to plants splashed by pool water. The chlorine in the pool dehydrates the plant, burning the roots and killing it. There's no reason why you can't use pool chlorine to kill unwanted weeds.
Things You'll Need
Granulated pool chlorine
Heavy duty rubber gloves
Plastic scoop
Garden hose
Take your package of granulated chlorine outside to where the weeds are. Put on your heavy duty gloves and open the bag.
Scoop out one scoopful of granules. Sprinkle the granules around the stems of the weeds, exactly where they sink into the soil. You don't need to heavily surround the stems, a light sprinkling of granules will do.
Attach your garden hose to the outside water supply by your house and direct the flow of water down at the granules. The granule should mix with the water and then sink into the soil, swiftly killing the weeds.
