Weeds in a lawn, on a sidewalk and spread throughout a driveway can diminish the overall look of your property. Many types of weeds can be manually uprooted using a shovel or similar object, but this particular method will likely not completely destroy the weeds. Ripping out weeds constantly gets annoying, and using chemical herbicides may harm your property and make pets and people ill. A common household liquid effectively kills weeds -- both organically and inexpensively -- forever.
Things You'll Need
Lawn mower/garden shears
Cooking pot
Undiluted white vinegar
Mow or cut the weeds down as low as possible. This ensures the "weed killer" that you utilize gets into and kills the roots of the weeds.
Pour one gallon of undiluted white vinegar into a large cooking pot.
Put the uncovered pot on your stove. Turn the stove onto medium-high heat. Leave the pot on the stove until the vinegar is thoroughly boiling (a "rolling boil"). Place the pot's lid on the pot once the vinegar is boiling.
Take the pot outside to the weeds' location. Pour the heated vinegar over the weeds slowly. The heat and acidity both destroy the weeds.
Repeat this process over the next day or two (as necessary) until the weeds are completely killed.
Tips & Warnings
Wear protective gloves, boots and other items to prevent you from getting burned by the boiling vinegar.
Perform this process carefully if killing weeds on your lawn, as the heated vinegar will also kill grass and other vegetation.
