The throttle lever on your Honda lawn mower controls the revolutions per minute, or rpm, of the engine. The throttle lever is connected to a cable that runs to your carburetor. Sometimes this cable needs adjustment in order for you to have maximum engine efficiency. An engine that runs too fast will burn too much fuel and the lifespan will be shortened. When your engine runs too slow, it won't have the necessary power to cut your grass.
Things You'll Need
Phillips screwdriver
Turn the lawn mower off. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
Slide the throttle lever into the "choke" position.
Locate the Phillips-head screw that holds the throttle lever to the engine bracket. Loosen this screw a little.
Grasp the throttle cable and pull it toward the lawn mower handle until it is tight. Tighten the screw and release the throttle cable.
Attach the spark plug wire back to the spark plug.
Tips & Warnings
Never adjust a lawn mower component without first removing the spark plug wire. Removing the wire will prevent the lawn mower from accidentally starting up.
