Things You'll Need
Bowl
Warm water
Soil
Vermiculite
Sand
Seed tray with drainage holes
Clear plastic wrap
Soil thermometer
6-inch growing pot
Prepare the habanero seeds six to 10 weeks before the last frost. Place the habanero pepper seeds in a bowl. Fill the bowl with warm water and allow them to soak overnight.
Mix an equal amount of soil, vermiculite and sand. Fill a seed tray that has drainage holes with this medium.
Sow the seeds ? inch deep and 1 inch apart. Water the soil to keep it moist. Place clear plastic wrap over the seed tray to cover them.
Set the seeds in a sunny windowsill in bright and indirect sunlight. The soil temperature needs to remain between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
Water the seeds to moisten the soil when it feels dry. Once the seeds germinate, remove the plastic wrap from the seed tray. This can take up to six weeks to occur.
Thin out the weakest seedlings after they have grown two sets of true leaves.
Transplant the pepper seedlings to their own individual 6-inch growing pots. Continue to water the habanero peppers and keep them in a warm location.
