Proper maintenance of your tractor will ensure its longevity and best performance. Always reference your owner's manual to know when to perform maintenance on your machine.

Check the blade switch to make sure it is properly engaged if the engine fails to start. Next, check the steering controls to ensure that they are not in the locked in the neutral position. Check that the parking brake is not attached. Check that the battery is not dead. Check the fuel line that it is not contaminated. Check the fuel filter and the fuel line that it is not clogged.
Check the battery if the motor does not turn the engine over. Check that the contacts on the battery terminal are properly connected. Check for a blown fuse. Check the ignition system to ensure that it is not faulty.
Check that the carburetor is not faulty if the engine runs rough. Check that the choke control is pulled out when the engine is warm. Check for defective valves. Check for defective piston, cylinder, piston ring and cylinder-head seal. Check that the cylinder head bolts are not loose. Check that the fuel filter or jet is not clogged. Check that the ventilation valve on the fuel cap is not clogged. Check that you have fuel in the tank. Check for defective spark plug or that the spark plug is not loose. Check that the ignition cable is not defective. Check that the spark-plug electrode is not defective.
Check that the air filter is not clogged should the engine seem weak. Also check for a defective spark plug and that the carburetor is correctly adjusted.
Check that the drive belt for the mower deck has not come loose if the mower deck is not engaging. Check that the contact for the electromagnetic coupling has not come loose. Check that the blade switch is not faulty or has come loose from the cable contact. Check that the fuse is not blown.
