Know that dill is a beautiful, big, airy plant that is very useful in the garden and the kitchen. You can purchase plants ready to put into the ground in many garden centers, or you can choose seeds. Many gardeners believe that dill really improves the health and growth of cabbage and its relatives.
Be aware that some people also believe that it helps repel aphids and spider mites throughout the garden and that it attracts tomato hornworms and keeps them away from your tomatoes.
Know that in the vegetable garden dill also complements lettuce, onions and cucumbers, so you can plant it liberally throughout your vegetable garden. Start it indoors in peat pots in colder climates or sow directly into the vegetable garden in warmer climates. Dill sprouts better in coolers weather and it likes full sun and well-drained soil.
Don't plant dill near carrots or tomatoes, give them each some room because dill can have negative effects on them both.
